Ingredients

  • 2 c Pasta shells, whole wheat, dry
  • 1 ¼ c Milk, skim, divided
  • 4 t Flour
  • ⅔ c Cheddar cheese, extra sharp, shredded
  • ⅛-¼ t Cayenne pepper, to taste
  • ¼ t Black pepper

Directions

  1. COOK macaroni noodles as directed, omitting salt and fat.
  2. In a separate sauce pan, COMBINE ¼ c milk and flour. WHISK together.
  3. ADD in remaining milk, WHISK and bring to a BOIL over medium high heat. STIR frequently.
  4. REDUCE heat to medium, SIMMER until slightly thickened and STIR constantly.
  5. REMOVE from heat, ADD in cheese and STIR until completely melted.
  6. SEASON with cayenne and black pepper
  7. POUR cheese
